The Berkeley Free Clinic (PDF, 327 KB)
The Berkeley Free Clinic, established in 1969, is a nonprofit clinic in Berkeley, California that provides screenings, cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, and oral health education to its clients free of charge. Direct services are provided almost entirely by volunteers. Due to limited capacity, the clinic uses a lottery system, in which only lottery winners receive dental care. The clinic focuses on underserved populations, including individuals without insurance and the homeless.

Boston Senior Oral Health Program (PDF, 668 KB) Promising Program
The Boston Senior Oral Health Program provides dental screenings and multi-lingual oral health education to older adults living in public housing developments, with referrals to federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) for those in need of dental care. All individuals are offered navigation assistance from Resident Health Resources, who are existing public housing residents trained as oral health advocates for their fellow residents. The program provides dental care free of charge to participating older adults.

Bridges to Health (PDF, 317 KB)
In 2014, Bridges to Health was a three-day event in San Francisco, California that provided medical and dental care to almost 3,000 individuals. This program had a medical and dental clinic, and offered a variety of services including vision services and STD/HIV screening. Dental services included cleanings, extractions, crowns, and root canals. The majority of the dental equipment was made available by the Adventist Medical Evangelism Network. By the end of the three days, more than $5 million worth of services were provided at no charge to the clients.
