Gary and Mary West Senior Dental Center (PDF, 337 KB)
The Gary and Mary West Senior Dental Center is located in San Diego, California. The Dental Center will launch in spring 2016 and is co-located with the Gary and Mary West Senior Wellness Center. The program provides comprehensive dental services that include screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, fillings, extractions, crowns, bridges, dentures, scaling, oral surgery, root canals, referrals, care coordination, and patient education. The center specifically targets low-income older adults.

Geriatric Dental Group of South Texas (PDF, 334 KB)
The Geriatric Dental Group of South Texas, established in 2006, is located in San Antonio, Texas. Using portable equipment, the program’s dentists and dental hygienists treat older adults and individuals with complex medical conditions in nursing homes. The dental team provides bedside services in nursing homes as well as more complex procedures in a wheelchair-accessible dental office, which is also important for certain individuals, such as those with swallowing disorders. The program’s services include emergency care, basic care, and comprehensive care.

Give a Senior a Smile (PDF, 355 KB)
The Give a Senior a Smile program, based in Reno, Nevada, was modelled after the “Give Kids a Smile” day. It was sponsored by the American Dental Association and later became the Adopt-a-Vet program. Program partners included the Sanford Center for Aging Senior Outreach Services (SOS) and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) from the University of Nevada. Services included screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants, x-rays, scaling, care coordination, referrals, and patient and caregiver education. The program targeted low-income, homebound older adults. In total, more than $30,000 worth of services were provided free of charge.

Golden Smiles Program (PDF, 353 KB)
The Golden Smiles Program at Truckee Meadows Community College operates in Reno, Nevada. Services provided include screenings, fluoride treatments, sealants, and scaling. Dental hygiene students and faculty also offer patient and caregiver education at housing projects for adults. The program targets low-income older adults (60 years and older) without insurance residing in Washoe County and has treated approximately 50 individuals since its inception.

Good Samaritan Center (PDF, 328 KB)
The Good Samaritan Center, established in 2004, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Fredericksburg, Texas. The center offers medical and dental services. For three days per week, volunteer dentists and hygienists provide the following on-site services: screenings, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and patient education. The center targets low-income populations, individuals without insurance, and underinsured individuals.

Good Shepherd Ministries Dental Clinic (PDF, 660 KB) Promising Program
Good Shepherd Ministries Medical and Dental Clinic is a comprehensive medical home that provides primary, medical, and dental care to uninsured Oklahomans of all ages. Volunteers and staff provide quality care to individuals without insurance who can otherwise not afford it. Services are primarily offered through appointments at the dental clinic. In addition to serving as a dental home for the medical clinic clients and their children, the clinic offers weekly free extraction nights open to the community.

Goodwin Dental Center (PDF, 338 KB)
Goodwin Dental Center, established in 2004, is located in Somersworth, New Hampshire. The dental clinic is part of a larger medical center that includes behavioral health services, family planning, nutrition counseling, and other programs for individuals with and without insurance. Dental services include screenings, cleanings, fluoride treatments, x-rays, fillings, extractions, crowns, dentures, root canals, care coordination, and client education. The dental center treats both children and adults, including low-income individuals who can apply for the sliding fee discount program. For insured individuals, they accept NH and ME Medicaid along with most private insurances. An emergency standby is available to established and non-established dental patients to receive immediate attention.
